Coating Effects on Garments by Spray Coating

For creating fashionable effects, such as luster or leather imitation effects, you can use the polymers which are also used in traditional textile coating. The products are usually applied by spraying. You can also finish clothing articles with shiny pigments or reflecting glass beads. Thus, wearers of children's or sports clothing improve their visibility in twilight.

Spray Coating on Ready-Made Garments

It is not possible to carry out a traditional coating – with a coating knife on open-width fabric – on ready-made garments. For this reason, in garment coating the textile chemicals are usually applied on the trousers or jackets by a spray application or by a dip-hydroextraction process. After the application of the polymer compounds the garments are dried and fixed in an oven. In some cases, after the application of the coating special surface treatments are carried out in the tumble drier.

Glitter, Luster and Leather Imitation Effects on Garments

Luster and leather imitation effects on garments can be produced in different ways. For example, you can use polymers which form smooth, glossy films on the fabric. As an alternative you can add self-shining additives with glitter or pearlescent pigments, like our PERICOAT FINE SILVER. Greasy luster effects can be achieved with PERIPRET LUSTER 2, a special auxiliary for producing shiny effects on garments. After the spray application and a subsequent drying step, the pieces are treated with silicone balls at room temperature in the tumble dryer. In this way you can produce a greasy luster effect on the coated areas.

Reflecting Effects on Children’s Clothing and Outdoor Sportswear

For safety reasons reflecting effects are often requested on children’s clothing and outdoor sportswear. In this way athletes or children can be seen better especially during the cold and dark season. A reflective coating reflects incoming light from vehicle’s headlights so that the persons wearing such garments are optimally visible in twilight or darkness. In the daylight those coatings are almost invisible. The reflecting effects can be achieved by using little glass beads, like PERICOAT REFLEX PEARL. A wash fast fixation of the glass pearls can be obtained with a suitable coating compound, like PERICOAT REFLEX BASE.
