Pretreatment of Organic Cotton According to Environmental Standard GOTS

We provide many GOTS-certified auxiliaries which can be applied for the different pretreatment processes of organic cotton. All the auxiliaries, colorants, and chemicals which are used for textile finishing processes of cotton from organic cultivation have to fulfil the requirements of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Apart from certified products for textile pretreatment, we also offer products for sizing, dyeing, and finishing of organic cotton textiles.

Textile Auxiliaries for Textile Finishing of Organic Cotton

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) issues guidelines for the production of textiles which are made of minimum 70 % natural organic fibers, mainly of organic cotton. For the various finishing stages of such organically grown natural fibers we offer many textile auxiliaries for the pretreatment, dyeing, and finishing of GOTS-certified textiles and apparel made of organic cotton. As a responsible company, we attach importance to sustainable action. For this reason, we follow the specifications of the current Global Organic Textile Standard.

Pretreatment of Organic Cotton

Textile pretreatment of organic cotton includes process stages such as:

  • Desizing
  • Bleaching
  • Washing

Our product range of GOTS-certified textile auxiliaries includes non-GMO enzymeswetting and washing agents for desizingbleaching stabilizersdispersing agentscomplexing agents as well as optical brighteners for bleaching, and detergents for pretreatment and washing of textiles made of organic cotton.

Our Ecological Product Recommendations for Pretreatment

Please find our product recommendations for ecological bleaching agents, wetting and washing agents, dispersing and sequestering agents, optical brighteners as well as enzymes for pretreatment of organic cotton as well as organic cotton blends listed below.

Bleaching Agents:

PERISTAL BS

PERISTAL BS is a silicate-free, well biodegradable bleaching stabilizer for peroxide bleaching of cellulosic fibers and blends. The product shows a good dispersing effect, increases the washing efficiency of liquors as well as their soil suspending properties.

PERISTAL EPJ

PERISTAL EPJ is a multifunctional auxiliary for peroxide bleaching. The product is characterized by excellent stabilizing, sequestering, and deaerating properties as well as high wetting and washing power. The product is free from sodium waterglass and low-foaming above 50 °C.

PERISTAL PSK conc.

PERISTAL PSK conc. is an outstanding stabilizer for hot as well as cold pad batch peroxide bleach. The product shows complexing and sequestering action. PERISTAL PSK conc. prevents the deposition of poorly soluble fiber accompanying substances such as calcium or magnesium pectins or other alkaline earth compounds.

Washing Agents:

PERLAVIN PAM

PERLAVIN PAM is an excellent washing agent with very good wetting power, even at high alkaline pH values. It is suitable for pretreatment processes. PERLAVIN PAM is characterized by its high washing power and good emulsifying effect for fats, waxes and oils. Silicone lubricants on elastane-containing blends are removed efficiently.

PERLAVIN NDA

PERLAVIN NDA is a multipurpose auxiliary for single-bath washing and dyeing of grey cotton. The product has good wetting, washing, dispersing, and sequestering properties. PERLAVIN NDA is not enzyme-toxic and is thus suitable for enzymatic pretreatment processes.

PERLAVIN NIC

PERLAVIN NIC is a low-foaming, all-purpose pretreatment cleaning agent. It is applicable in bleaching as well as dyeing processes, for single-bath wetting, washing, and dyeing without separate pre-washing. PERLAVIN NIC does not affect enzymes. It can be used in enzymatic desizing processes.

PERIWET ELR

PERIWET ELR is a low-foaming rapid wetting and deaerating agent. The product is applicable for all kinds of fibers and can be used in acidic, neutral or alkaline media over the whole temperature range.

Optical Brighteners:

PERIBLANC BA liq.

PERIBLANC BA liq. is an optical brightener for cotton, viscose, polyamide, wool, and silk. The fluorescent whitening agent with high affinity is having a blue shade.

Sequestering Agents:

PERIGON NT

PERIGON NT is a versatile sequestering agent. The product increases the soil suspending capacity and cleaning power of liquors, for example for washing or boiling of cotton goods. PERIGON NT improves the removability of cotton accompanying substances. As a consequence, rinsing steps can be saved.

PERIPLEX AHL

PERIPLEX AHL is an organic complexing agent for pretreatment of cotton and cotton blends. The surfactant-free product has a high dispersing effect and a good complexing power for alkaline earth compounds as well as a strong binding capacity for heavy metal ions as well as metal ions.

PERIQUEST BSD

PERIQUEST BSD is a very well biodegradable dispersing and sequestering agent. The product is used in textile pretreatment because of its good complexing and dispersing effect. Cotton accompanying substances are washed out more easily and, as a result, rinsing processes can be saved.

Non-GMO Enzymes:

Catalase: PERIZYM N-CAT d.c.

PERIZYM N-CAT d.c. is a liquid non-GMO catalase used for the removal of residual hydrogen peroxide after bleaching. The catalase enzyme splits peroxide into environmentally friendly, inactive oxygen and water. No harmful substances, sulfates or nitrogenous salts are produced. The enzymes in PERIZYM N-CAT d.c. are generated from non-GMO.

Amylase: PERIZYM N-HTV

PERIZYM N-HTV is a highly temperature-resistant non-GMO amylase for enzymatic desizing of starch-sized textiles. The enzymes are produced from non-genetically modified organisms. It has its optimum effect at 70 to 90 °C and a pH value of 5.0 to 7.0. Under these conditions the amylase is optimally degrading insoluble starch molecules into water-soluble substances.
