Antistatic Agents Increase Conductivity of Synthetic Fibers
Synthetic fibers, such as polyester or polyamide, have a hydrophobic character. This is why textiles made of these fibers tend to electrostatic charging. This static electricity can occur for example during textile production of synthetic materials through friction between fabric and machine. This electric voltage can cause problems in processing. Antistatic auxiliaries are used in textile finishing of synthetic fibers and their blends with natural fibers to reduce electrostatic charging of the textile fabrics during production as well as during the subsequent use. Due to their hydrophilic properties antistatic agents increase the conductivity of the textiles and can dissipate accumulated charges.
PERISTAT RDV Is an Antistatic Agent for all Process Stages
Our innovative antistatic agent, PERISTAT RDV, can be used not only in the final finishing but in all wet finishing production stages. It can be either padded on the fabric or applied by an exhaust process. In contrast to conventional antielectrostatic auxiliaries PERISTAT RDV hardly evaporates from the fabric even at high temperature processes such as drying, heat-setting or curing on the stenter.
Our Application Recommendation for PERISTAT RDV
PERISTAT RDV is suitable for padding as well as for exhaust processes. By exhaustion the product is applied at pH 6 for approximately 20 minutes at 50 °C.
For the application in exhaust processes we recommend the following application quantity at a liquor ratio of 10:1:
1 – 2 % PERISTAT RDV
If you pad the textiles dry-in-wet on the padding machine, we recommend the following application quantity:
5 – 20 g/l PERISTAT RDV
After the application of the antistatic agent the fabrics can be dried and fixed in the conventional manner.
PERISTAT RDV
PERISTAT RDV is an antistatic agent for synthetic fibres. It can be used in all stages of processing which afford prevention of static electricity. PERISTAT RDV increases the electrical conductivity of synthetic fibres, especially of polyester fibres. By using the product the processability of the textiles is improved and any disturbing electrostatic charging is avoided. It shows a high temperature resistance and evaporates only minimally even at high temperatures (drying, heat setting), this means that PERISTAT RDV is nearly emission-free.
